Thank you for a successful Advocacy Day 2010! The New York State Coalition for School-Based Health Centers would like to thank all the students, parents, teachers, school-based health staff, and legislators for their attendance at our annual Advocacy/Education Day. This year over 400 students and adults attended the event from all areas of the State. Please stay tuned for further advocacy action alerts and help us protect SBHCs from further budget cuts. |

It’s that time of year again….please renew your membership to the New York State Coalition for School-Based Health Centers for 2010. Membership dues play an essential role in the Coalition’s ability to advocate for public policy which supports your SBHC and all SBHCs across our state. Your membership is vital. As a member of the New York State Coalition we will provide you with easy access to up-to-date SBHC news and legislative policy action alerts. In addition, you will be able to participate in the Coalition’s Regional Chapters that allow you to shape policy related to children’s health issues and to respond to issues that impact SBH in your region of the state. We hope that you will continue to be involved with us, share your feedback, and let us know your thoughts, and your ideas. The New York State Coalition for School-Based Health Centers Works on Your Behalf:
· Since 1998, the Coalition has successfully advocated for nearly $24 million in annual funding for SBHCs across the State. · Last year your membership dues supported the Coalition’s efforts of holding SBHC funding harmless in the FY 2009-2010 State Budget despite $2.3 billion in health care cuts to other programs. · Your membership dues supported an advocacy day bringing students, staff, community members, and parents to Albany for the chance to meet with legislators to articulate their views on youth health care needs and support of SBHCs as an affordable, accessible, and proven program to meet youth’s health care needs. SBHC sponsoring agencies will receive a membership letter in the mail early in January. If you are an individual interested in becoming a member of the Coalition, please click on the “membership” tab on the left to open the membership application. Additional details are provided on the application. Thank you for your commitment to advancing the school-based health model in New York State. |
